SCOTLAND!

Here's mom and dad racing to hug their favourite child.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in London, or Fake London, as Kim calls it.  I went to Canada's Wonderland with some friends, and took a trip to Toronto to visit another friend from High School.  Another of the highlights was spending some grad gift money from Baba and Dido and Uncle Gary and Aunty Lou on the purchase of a new camera.  (Thanks guys!)

<——Just look at that image quality!

As enjoyable as Ontario was, soon it was time to leave for school.  My flights went well and I even arrived in Edinburgh one minute early!  Following the suggested route of another postgrad living in Dundee, I took a bus from the airport to the quaint town of Inverkeithing.  From there, I took the train to Dundee.

Backpack by my side, and waiting for the wall of trees to subside to snap some pictures of that beautiful Scottish countryside, I fell asleep.
And stayed asleep until the second last stop (whoops!)  So unfortunately, no pictures from the train.
Lucky for me, there's a deafening beep shortly before each stop so I didn't miss Dundee despite dozing off again.  I even got to watch the crossing of the River Tay (Tatha in Gaelic) which is the longest river in Scotland.  We crossed at the Firth and it's actually quite far and the bridge hasn't even collapsed since the 1800s.  Bonus!

A short walk from the train station and I made it to my accommodations.  I was settled at around 20:00 local time, managed to stay up until 22:00 and woke up at 6:00.  Perfect!  Except I felt I could sleep a little more, so I 'dozed off' again until 11:30.  My first day was mostly spent getting acquainted with the area and buying some supplies.
That's me with my shiny new frying pan and knife and a baguette.
I met 2 of my 4 roommates: Daniela from Portugal who is taking intellectual history, and Philip from Birmingham who is in mediaeval history.
After meeting Daniela in the hallway of our flat, I wandered into the kitchen, had a look around, and tried to get back to my room, but the door was gone.  I spent about 5 very confusing minutes in the hallway looking for a door labeled F6f before realizing I actually lived in 6Fe.
In the evening, as I was cleaning up from my supper, Philip arrived and we walked Dundee a bit more.  There are like 3 separate penguin sculptures!  I'll be sure to bring my camera for next time.
That's really all for now.  I think another roommate moves in today and I still have a few things to buy, so that'll keep me busy and tomorrow I'll probably bus to St. Andrews and see the school.

Below are a couple pics of the view from my room.  I'll try to get a better picture of that tower in the background on the left there when if there's a clearer day.

My window points south-eastish

The view a little more south than eastish
